Install, load and create

Download NL/EN manual

Follow these steps for the original VST3 plug-ins, personal .vstpreset files and cabinet impulse responses.

1. Extract first

  1. Download the product from My purchases and save the ZIP file to your own device.
  2. Right-click the ZIP, select Properties and use Unblock if Windows displays that option.
  3. Extract the complete ZIP. Do not install or load files directly from the ZIP window.
  4. Keep the included manual and Webglobe licence with your backup.

2. Installing a VST3 plug-in on Windows

  1. Close your DAW.
  2. Copy the complete folder ending in .vst3 to C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3. Preserve the complete folder structure.
  3. Restart your DAW and run a full VST3 rescan if necessary.
  4. Find the plug-in under the manufacturer Webglobe FREQ FORGE and insert it as an audio effect on an audio, guitar or bass track.
  • Supported: Windows 10/11 64-bit and a 64-bit DAW with VST3 support.
  • Current downloads are VST3 for Windows x64; do not rename the extension or place them in a VST2 folder.
  • The plug-ins intentionally use the DAW's generic parameter editor. This is a working interface, not a missing installation component.

3. Using the VST3 plug-in

  1. Insert the plug-in on the intended track. Prefer a clean DI signal when using an amp model.
  2. Start with a low output level and raise Gain, Drive or Fuzz gradually.
  3. Use Mix for parallel processing and Output to level-match the result so that louder is not mistaken for better.
  4. All displayed parameters can be automated and are stored with the DAW project.
  • Overdrive, distortion and fuzz can be placed before an amp model.
  • Chorus, delay and reverb can sit before or after an amp model; after the amp generally sounds clearer.
  • With amp models, add an external cabinet IR only when your chosen signal chain requires it; avoid accidental double cabinet filtering.

4. What is a .vstpreset?

A .vstpreset is not a plug-in and does not contain a standalone audio effect. It stores parameter values for the exact matching VST3 plug-in, so always install the original plug-in first.

A preset for one FREQ//FORGE product cannot be loaded by another product. Keep the product name and preset together.

5. Installing and loading a Custom Lab preset

  1. Download and install the fixed plug-in separately from your account library if it is not installed yet.
  2. Extract the Custom Lab package.
  3. Copy the .vstpreset file from 01-Preset to Documents\VST3 Presets\Webglobe FREQ FORGE\[Plug-in name]. Create missing folders when required.
  4. Restart the DAW or refresh its preset database. Open the exact matching plug-in and select the preset in the DAW preset browser.
  5. If it is not listed, use your DAW's Load preset, Import preset or Open preset command and select the .vstpreset file directly.
  • CUSTOM-SETTINGS.json is a readable overview; the DAW does not need to open it.
  • You may use a .vstpreset on another device you own when the same plug-in is installed correctly and the Webglobe licence is observed.

6. Using cabinet IRs

  1. Open a cab loader, convolution plug-in or your DAW's built-in IR loader.
  2. Load one WAV file from the pack. Prefer 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz to match the project sample rate.
  3. Disable automatic normalisation in the loader when possible and set the level manually.
  4. Compare microphone/position variants at equal loudness and check phase when blending multiple IRs.
  • The IR files are mono 24-bit PCM WAV and require software or hardware capable of loading impulse responses.
  • A cabinet IR normally follows an amp model whose own cabinet section is disabled.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Plug-in missing: verify the exact VST3 folder, 64-bit compatibility and Windows blocking, then run a full rescan.
  • Preset missing: verify the plug-in name and folder, refresh the preset database or load the file directly in the DAW.
  • No audible change: check bypass, Mix, routing and whether the preset belongs to the same plug-in.
  • Clicks or overload: lower the input and Output levels and check the buffer/sample settings of your audio driver.
  • A DAW may use its own preset location. Consult that DAW's documentation for VST3 preset import when needed.

8. Licence and support

The plug-in, preset structure, cabinet IRs and documentation remain the property of Webglobe Webdesign & Development. Your rendered music may be used under the included audio product licence; the source files themselves may not be shared or resold.
